About

I’m Jen, a graphic designer living in the  beautiful city of San Diego. As you can see, I aim to be creative on many levels. I have been working in the creative field as for the past five years.

jenruhman AboutThe internet is an ocean of information and images. Why not display it all beautifully and let it be more functional, easy to find, and beautiful to look at? I’m passionate to design for usability, letting users easily find the content they are looking for and be comfortable to read. That’s my mission, to make your user experience better.

From the time I was a child sifting through the Sunday’s newspaper in search of colorful ads, not to look at the sales or coupons, I was in search of design. The advertisements were sorted in piles of “good” or “bad” design. I’d be inspired by the good and want to redo the bad. I learned how everything had a specific look and feel, for example makeup advertisements looked simplistic with a very “clean” style. Of course I thought to myself, “You want clean beautiful flawless skin, makes perfect sense.” I would challenge myself to create a specific “look and feel” for my future clients that need something done either grungy to high end looking. My time has been well spent studying successful design and attending college to learn above and beyond how to perfect it.

As a designer you can’t box yourself to designing only one look and feel. I discovered this early on. It’s not about how you want something to appear, it HAS to fit the client’s vision and be successful attracting target market attention. When I can get that right, my job has been successful.

Some of my hobbies include: Gardening, baking, hiking, car detailing, and searching for design inspiration.

Thank you for learning more about me!
